Itinerary: 11 Day / 10 Night Safari in Tanzania

Day 1: Arusha

On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by a member of the Sunny Safari team who will take you to your hotel in Arusha, known as the safari capital of Tanzania. Dinner.

Day 2 & 3: Tarangire:

After breakfast, you set off in one of our comfortable safari vehicles for Tarangire, where we stay for two nights at our Rift Valley Territorial Camp Tarangire. In season witness the annual migrations involving thousands of elephants and a wide range of wildlife including wildebeest, giraffe, zebra, oryx, buffalo, and lion. Enjoy a fascinating game drive each day as well as a walking safari to explore the beautiful landscapes of Tarangire. Picnic lunches and delicious dinners are prepared for you by our camp staff.

Day 4 & 5: Serengeti

After an early morning game drive in Tarangire, you savor a tasty brunch, before setting off to the Serengeti where you stay for two nights at the Trackers Camp Serengeti. The Serengeti is famed for its annual great migration of wildebeest, an impressive sight as they thunder across the plains, with attendant herds of zebra and gazelles. You'll see the big cat predators and smaller wildlife too. Experience a game drive en route to the camp followed by dinner under the stars on arrival at the camp.

The next day three activities are available: a walking safari, a game drive, and insight into the culture and customs of the Ikoma people.

Day 6 & 7: Ngorongoro

An early morning game drive in the Serengeti is followed by a leisurely brunch before setting off for the Ngorongoro Rim, where we spend two nights at our Simba2 Camp Ngorongoro. A fascinating geological feature and one of Africa's Seven Natural Wonders, Ngorongoro is a huge caldera formed by the collapse of an ancient volcano crater. Its fertile soil and permanent water support a dense population of wildlife, offering a rich safari experience. You'll enjoy a full day Crater Tour, full of animal sightings, with lunch at the Hippo Pool picnic site. Then ascend to the rim to enjoy the panoramic views, returning to camp for another delicious dinner under the stars.

Day 8: Lake Manyara

After breakfast, we drive to Lake Manyara, a scenic park at the base of the Rift Valley escarpment, with forest, lake, and plains providing a very varied eco-system supporting diverse wildlife, including elephants and tree-climbing lions. A game drive is followed by lunch at the hot springs picnic site. Explore further with a guided walk along the lake shore of Manyara, seeing fishermen, magnificent views of The Great Rift Wall, grazing cows herded by Masai boys (Layoni's), and the entrancing sight of masses of flamingos up close. We spend the night and eat a delicious dinner at TarOsero Camp Manyara.

Day 9 & 10: Foothills of Mount Meru

After breakfast, we visit the Selela Plains Masai Manyata (Masai village) to gain more understanding of this warrior tribe whose culture has remained unchanged for centuries. Depending on the time of year, we may be lucky enough to witness the colorful day-long celebrations that accompany the Masai circumcision ceremonies. After lunch at the Camp in Manyara we explore the Market of Mto wa Mbu as a guided walk, before setting off for Arusha Park, where we spend two nights at our Rift Valley Territorial Camp Foothills of Mt. Meru. The next morning a 3-hour hike in the foothills of Mt Meru guided by a ranger is followed by a picnic lunch and a visit to the Ngurdoto Crater. The rest of the afternoon is spent exploring the Momella lakes by canoe, where flocks of flamingos and plentiful birdlife provide enthralling viewing. A last wonderful dinner under the stars is prepared by your camp staff team.

Day 11

After breakfast depart to Kilimanjaro Airport/Arusha Airport for your return flight
