A summary of your African Adventure of what to expect each day of your safari
Day 1 Arusha
Your arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, welcome – karibu by your safari guide. Watch for a Sunny Safaris page displayed with your name on it. Drive to Arusha nestled under Mt. Meru. Overnight The Milimani Lodge.
Day 2 Lake Manyara
After breakfast, you set off in one of our comfortable safari vehicles to Lake Manyara.
A scenic National Park at the base of the Rift Valley escarpment, with forest, lake, and plains providing a very varied eco-system supporting diverse
wildlife, including elephants and tree-climbing lions, a half day game drive through forest and lakeshore with the entrancing sight of masses of Flamingos and Pelicans.
Lunch on arrival, after game drive return to the Lake Manyara Lodge, where we will be staying one night.
Day 3 & 4 Serengeti via Oldupai
After breakfast, depart to Serengeti via Oldupai,
En-route visit Oldupai Gorge, known as the Cradle of Mankind, Oldupai Gorge is a fascinating archaeological site discovered in the 1930’s with
important evidence of pre-historic man.
A picnic Lunch spot to enjoy, viewing big numbers of Birdlife at Oldupai, after that proceed to the Shifting Sands.
Experience an afternoon en-route game drive in the Serengeti.
The Serengeti is famed for its annual great migration of Wildebeest, an impressive sight as they thunder across the plains during the months of October to June, with attendant herds of zebra and gazelles. You’ll see the resident big cats predators and smaller wildlife too. The following day we make the most of this adventure with a full day game drive.
Back to the Lodge for a memorable meal and perhaps some stargazing around the Lodge. We spend two nights at your selected Lodge
Day 5 Ngorongoro
An early morning game drive in Serengeti, brunch lunch. Set off for the Ngorongoro Crater Rim, with a further game drive en-route as we pass through more of the Serengeti. Optional visit to Masai Village. There are several Maasai Bomas that our driver guides have relationships with. These are located a short distance from the main road, not far after the Olduvai Gorge. These locations allow convenient access but are still far enough off the beaten path to avoid the main tourist circuit.
A fascinating geological feature and one of Africa’s Seven Natural Wonders, Ngorongoro is a huge caldera formed by the collapse of an ancient volcano crater. Its fertile soil and permanent water support a dense population of Wildlife, offering a rich safari experience.
At Ngorongoro, we’ll be spending one night at the selected Ngorongoro Lodge on the Crater Rim overlooking the Crater Floor before returning to Arusha on day 5 - end of the safari.
